We went and saw this movie in the theater today. They really did a good job of staying true to the book. There were a few things that were different, but the main parts of the book were right on in the movie. If you have not read the book, you need to. It is a testament to the power of love, family, and determination.
There are two parts in the movie that I remember underlining in the book. One of them is a scene where Lily and Zach and talking about how writers just imagine things and write them down. Zach tells Lily what he wants to do with his life and she looks at him like that could never happen. He tells her, "That is because you have never imagined it." How many times do we squelch someone's dreams and/or our own simply because we can't imagine what that would look like? If it is a dream, go ahead and imagine it, because when you do you are more likely to see it come to fruition. The second thing was the idea that everyone needs to feel loved. Lily struggles with not feeling loved... are there people in our lives that don't feel love that we need to show love to? Hopefully we show love to everyone in our lives, but are there specific people who need someone/anyone to love them? May we be Christ with skin and love them the way only He can and would.
