Not that we are counting or anything, but after today, we are ready to be there!!! We had planned to walk 27 kilometers today and sent Toni´s backpack that far. However, when we arrived at 5:00 the albergue was full. This meant we had to walk another three kilometers. I know you are thinking, it is only 1.5 miles. Well, it was uphill in the heat and we already had our hearts set on stopping. Talk about stretch yourself. This is my realization that there is NOTHING I can´t do. Toni thinks the same for herself.
We visited with the ¨bum¨ today. He is quite an amazing man!! We shared some cherries, a table and some shade. We are all just pilgrims... we aren´t any different. In the same way that in life we are all traveling the same road.
Can´t wait to see you all. we have tried several times to post pictures but have had no luck. Maybe in Santiago we can. We shall see.
Hope all is well at home.
Mel and Toni
If you are following online, we will start and finish stage 32 tomorrow. We have been back on the schedule for a few days now. We plan to leave by 5:30 the next two days so as to beat the ever increasing crowds of pilgrims to the albergue.

I was just looking at the pictures and realized you haven't written much about the food you have been eating. Toni, were you able to order the "pig" that you talked about? What was the strangest food you had? What was the best? Worst? I'm enjoying the fresh peaches, cherries, melons, pineapple, tomatoes of the summer?
Can mine compare with yours? What are you most hungry for? That may be the thing that will decide where we have our "get together." Surely you have missed something about American food. Our SS class will take you out to lunch after church the first week you get back; start thinking now what sounds good, or is it possible that you have become so spiritual that food is no longer a priority in your life?
Hey Pilgrims. I can't imagine walking 1.5 miles up hill in the heat. I was just planting flowers for a few hours and thought I was going to croak! You guys are tough. I think you could kick my rear so I had better be nice to you two. I know that Debbie was asking you what food that you guys were missing. When I was gone for ten days to Costa Rica I wanted McDonalds french fries when I got home. I don't even like McDonalds. I also wanted a big juicy steak. I really want to hear more about the bum when you guys return. Apparently he does't ask for a dollar, want to carry your luggage and tell you that it is only about a block to your destination. (Remember Atlanta Toni)
Well, I think that as you guys are struggling with the end of your journey, I have found the challenge of my summer. God is really teaching me a lot while my visitors are here. He's teaching me about grace, patience, and endurance. I won't have any blisters by the time my struggle is over, however.
I am so excited that you are so close to your goal! Do they have some sort of webcam in Santiago so we can watch you finish?
All of Debbie's food questions are making me hungry! Will you have some more crepes in Paris? Can you bring me one on the plane?
I'm off to get Carrie's mail. She's in Chicago at a conference and met Bobby Canty's brother and sister-in-law while she was checking in to the hotel. Small world, huh? I'm still waiting for you guys to run into somebody you know.
Ainsley says "Ahhhhh!" (I think that means, "Hi! Good luck with the finish!") We love you guys and are praying for you each day!
Wow you're almost done!!! Mary and I got together today and it was so wonderful to see her and little Emma!!! We were both missing you and thinking of you! I'm already scheming how I can come back for this big get-together, or maybe I can entice you to come spend a weekend with me in Colorado, all expenses paid... :-)
May God continue to bless you both and keep you as you reach your destination! You have inspired my summer!
Love, Christy
